‘The Kingkiller Chronicle’ by Patrick Rothuss

name-of-the-wind-coverThe_Wise_Man's_Fear_UK_coverI am trying to catch up with ‘real’ reading now that the PhD is done. It really feels good to take a book just  for the sheer pleasure of enjoying a good story. My ‘coming back’ book is actually two: The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man’s Fear – Books 1 and 2 of The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss. It was Ed’s suggestion and now I understand why he has read both volumes twice.

Rothuss not only creates a very interesting secondary world but also a fascinating and highly enjoyable main character with whom you can really connect cognitively and emotionally.  Superbly well-written, it is a page turner and when you, unfortunately, puts it down, the first impulse is to go and check the publisher’s website straightway  to try to figure out when Book 3 is coming…
